Carly Dickenson is an electronic artist / producer / vocalist from Brisbane. Carly has performed at prominent electronic music venues, such as Empire Hotel, HiFi, Moon Bar, and was commissioned to Sound Design for an installation in the Brisbane River Festival, with artistic director Zane Trow. She also performed at the opening of the Creative Industries Precinct; which was attended by the Premier of Queensland.
Carly is known for her distinctive vocal style and for incorporating hardware and midi controllers into live electronic performance. Since 2007, Carly has been pursuing a career as a solo artist and producer. She has had the good fortune to recently share ideas musically with the likes of Wally De Backer AKA Gotye and multi-ARIA award winner Quan Yeomans (Regurgitator).
Carly recently became part of a very special creative collective known as Lady Electronica (funded by the Australia Council and Arts Queensland). These ladies have joined together to expand the representation of women in electronic music.
All of these experiences have helped provide Carly with the confidence to make her first serious steps as a solo artist. “Relapse” is the first single from Carly’s debut EP set for release this May. Carly’s debut EP is steeped in triphop sounds from Bristol via Brisbane. Whilst the debut EP is defiantly Carly, she has worked in a co-production capacity with local electronic music luminaries John Teh (Teh) and Rafe Sholer (Shola) to help define her sound.
